SUTRON was contracted to supply, install and commission the Hydromet Stations and automatic weather stations (AWS), provide equipment for discharge measurement and on-site training.

The meteorological and hydrological stations, operated by the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, comply with standards adopted by Lower Mekong River Basin (LMRB) countries (Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam), managed by the Mekong River Commission Secretariat (MRCS).

Project Objective: Ensure Uniform Standards for Data Collection and Exchange

The objective was to ensure uniform standards for data collection and exchange, and to facilitate integration of the LMRB hydrological system.

The meteorological and hydrological stations monitor key parameter data to support flood forecasting and analysis of environmental impacts as well as climate change parameters for sustainable development in Cambodia. Parameter data is collected in real-time using the country’s mobile phone network.

SUTRON-designed MOWRAM software provides data analysis that supports flood forecasting, flood warnings, generation of flood predictions and issuance of daily flood forecasting bulletins.
